PROJECT SCOPE
Technicians will be deployed on projects involving high-voltage substation testing and commissioning. Work will be performed under the direction of project leads and field supervisors at utility substations, industrial facilities, and bulk power systems across the United States.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Test and commission Protection & Control systems at high-voltage substations from 15kV to 500kV.
- Perform protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150, and comparable test equipment.
- Work with SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families.
- Perform control-scheme testing and CT/PT circuit verification.
- Complete settings uploads and static or dynamic relay testing.
- Lead tailgate safety meetings and daily job-hazard analyses.
- Support regulatory compliance walkthroughs.
- Coordinate site preparation, testing logistics, and equipment deployment.
- Document field activities using digital tools, field forms, and mobile applications.
- Maintain calibration and maintenance records for field equipment and vehicles.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Hands-on experience in medium- and high-voltage electrical testing.
- Experience testing circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation Protection & Control systems.
- Proven experience with transmission, generation, or distribution protective relays.
- Experience with SEL, GE, Basler, or Beckwith relay systems.
- Knowledge of NETA, IEEE, and NFPA testing standards.
- Proficiency with ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, and AcSELerator QuickSet.
- Strong field-documentation skills, including logs, sketches, and digital reports.
- Safety-focused approach and a record of regulatory compliance.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel up to 80%.
- Ability to work in physically demanding outdoor environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with assistance.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without employment-based visa sponsorship.
COMPENSATION AND LOGISTICS
- Hourly Pay: $50–$85 per hour.
